NOOSA TAKE CLUB AID TROPHY

Monday 28 March 2011

Reigning AFLQ Premier Division champions Noosa showed they will be a force again in the 2011 Pineapple Hotel Cup by one of their sides claiming the Club Aid Trophy on Saturday.

The Tigers split their teams into two to ensure an even number of participants at Weyba Road, and the No.1 side went unbeaten in two games.

Their unexpected 65-point demolition of Sandgate in their opening game set up a huge percentage which won them the trophy ahead of other unbeaten teams Burleigh and Springwood.

The Western Magpies showed some pluck in their first game back in the Pineapple Hotel Cup, beating Palm Beach Currumbin in their opening game.

The Magpies were well beaten by Surfers Paradise in their second game after Surfers were upset by Springwood by a point in their opening match.

Burleigh had good wins over Coolangatta and Palm Beach Currumbin to show they look set for another solid winter.
