The new look South East Queensland AFL Starts this week with division 2 & 3 in action on Saturday the 24th March.
After a couple of practice matches the teams are ready to go, a far cry from last where they could not play practice games due to the floods that ravished most grounds.
Coorparoo Kings kick off the season against Kenmore at Giffin Park, where they will be presented with their premiership flag from last year’s Grand Final win with a small ceremony before the senior game, the King’s will want to get off to a flying start to get their season underway with a win. Kenmore have been going about business in the off season, I have heard they have recruited well so this week will see how their season will shape up going up against the reigning premiers
The Alex Hils wil host Aspley Hornets at Keith Surridge Oval , Graeme Henwood is back to guide Alex hills in 2012 and Adam Holland is once again in charge Aspley Hornets,it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this game as they both coaches have vastly different coaching styles.
Kedron will play Wynnum at Kedron this week, Kedron have recruited well in the off season as have Wynnum, Wynnum have gone through a un balanced pre season after Caloundra pulled out of this division which upset their plans for two consecutive practice matches, but from all reports have come up with a good team for the season opener.
Yeronga South Brisbane will host Robina at Leyshon Park this week, both clubs have had a couple of good practice matches under their belts are ready to go, Robina had a pretty good season last year after being elevated to this division in 2011, by all reports they have recruited well in the off season and are looking forward to the season to start. Yeronga South Brisbane has been going about their business in a quiet manner and could be the surprise packet this year.
