Coaching Legend signs with Bribie Island AFL
The Bribie Island Australian Football Club has secured the services of experienced coach Shane Johnson for their senior team in season 2013.
Johnson will bring his vast football knowledge gained from senior football in Tasmania, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, combined with his working life with AFL Queensland, and Brisbane Lions Player Development Manager.
Bribie Island President, Paul O’Neal said that with the Bulldogs coming back into senior football ranks next season Johnson was the perfect coach for the club.
“He has a very strong understanding of the game and the skills to get his message across to what will be a young team,” O’Neal said.
“Shane will reinforce the strong club community culture we have developed over the last few years.”
The club will be working towards the return of senior players from Bribie Island that had to play their footy elsewhere last year, but also has a list of young players coming through from the Under 18s team.
“I’m really looking forward to being involved with a club again,” Johnson said.
“The fact that we will be a young side means that we can continue to develop the skills and understanding of the game.”
“The club has really gone ahead off the field with excellent new facilities, and on the field with growing junior ranks.”
The Bulldogs are now able to offer football from NAB AFL Auskick through juniors to the open ranks.
Johnson will sit down with the club during the month and start to plan for next season and he will be ready to work with senior group over the pre-season.
