Moreton Bay Lions Senior Assistant Coach Women’s AFL

Senior Assistant Coach 2024
Are you a recent past player and/or a person who has ambitions to grow and develop into coaching?
Do you have a passion for teaching the skills and game knowledge of AFL, and having a “hands on role” within a successful organisation?

We are seeking is a person who has ambition to eventually coach their own team, who will work closely with our Level 3 Senior Women’s Coach, Shane Dawes. Shane will provide the successful applicant the support, experience and mentorship required to make the role enjoyable and fulfilling.

Having just won the Div 1 Senior Women’s Premiership in 2023 and playing in the last two Grand Finals, Moreton Bay Lions strive to improve further and continue their ongoing success. If you’re not growing you’re going backwards. Our former Senior Assistant Greg Deeks has now been elevated to Head Coach of our Development (reserves) team which has opened up this position.

Are not looking for someone to just move cones around the field. This is a role whereby we want a candidate to have a hands-on approach. You will be running training drills each week, develop training plans and will have input into our game plan and structure.
Part of our Coaching groups success is being adaptable and open to change to help our players get the best out of themselves. Our players development is our priority, which is why we have had enormous player retention & recruitment over the past two years.
OUR ambition is to be an improved and better team by seasons end and to help our assistant coaches transition into senior coaches.
IF this is you send a brief outline around your AFL experience, why you want to coach and contact information to Shane Dawes at or alternatively call 0411 302 925

You will be required to have a Level 1 AFL accreditation & a working with children blue card prior to commencement.
