Level 2 Coaching Accreditation Course

AFL Queensland will be hosting a Level 2 Coaching Accreditation Course on Saturday, February 17th at Bond University.

Registrations are now open for all senior and junior coaches, including assistant coaches, who facilitate both male and female programs to attend the course from clubs and schools.

The course is designed to provide progressive youth (U12-U17) and senior coaches (U18-Open) the opportunity to develop and learn about modern coaching in our game.

The six coaching competencies coaches will go through include.

  1. Create a Vision and Philosophy
  2. Shape the Environment
  3. Develop Team Culture
  4. Coaching at Training                      
  5. Game Day Coaching                      
  6. Reflective Practice                          

Criteria for course selection: Coaches must hold a current AFL Foundation Coach accreditation in the appropriate age group they are coaching in 2024, for a minimum of 1 season/12 months and be a registered member with Coach AFL.

To complete the accreditation, coaches must complete the following: 

  • Attend 1 full day face to face program.
  • Complete the pre course Coaching Philosophy online module.
  • Complete an in season mentoring task (completed by end of the 2024 season)

AFL Queensland recently appointed Brad Moore as Coaching and Education Lead South.

With extensive experience in coaching, Moore said the course presents a valuable opportunity for coaches to commence their 2024 season well prepared for their players and their club.

“The growth of the game is presenting many opportunities for both men and women coaches to become invested in our game and I’m sure they will get acquire beneficial coaching knowledge at the level 2 course that will benefit them going forward,” he said.

“Coaches will learn a lot about their coaching beliefs, trends of the game, effective planning, skill acquisition, but most importantly, creating an inclusive and learning environment for players and volunteers.

“Experienced coaches will be on hand to deliver the course content and encourage coaches and assistant coaches to attend the one-day course.”

The course will commence from 8am for 8:30am start until 5pm with catering and resources included.
