Lions & Suns To Face Off In QClash3

The Gabba is the place to be on Saturday night when the Lions and Suns battle it out in QClash3

Saturday’s night’s QClash3 at the Gabba promises to be a cracker.

With both the Brisbane Lions and the Gold Coast SUNS sitting on one win a piece, both teams will be playing for more than 4 premiership points.

Each are desperate for a win, and when you add to that the tantalising fact that skipper Jonathon Brown needs only two goals to reach the magic 500 mark, you have the potential for a blockbuster match.

With Brown sidelined for both 2011 QClash matches, both coaches acknowledge that Brown will be dangerous.

“We understand how big this game is and he’s a proud Queenslander now,” McKenna said. “He would be licking his lips for this opportunity.

“We know how good a player he is, we understand what he’s going to be able to deliver on, and we need to suppress that as best we can.”

Lions coach Michael Voss agrees, saying that Brown will be primed for Saturday’s match.

“He loves his football club, he’s the captain of our football club,” Voss said. “It ate him up a fair bit that he couldn’t partake in those matches last year.

“If there’s any one player that I know is going to be ready to go this week, mentally, physically or otherwise, it will be Brownie.”

But the Lions won’t be expecting an easy match against the SUNS, who gave fans reason to be hopeful despite losing to Essendon last week.

After a poor start to the match, the SUNS fought back to hold a 13-point lead late in the third term before the more experienced Bombers stormed home to win.

QClash3 at the Gabba kicks off at 7:40pm Saturday night.
