Southport star Cleve Hughes his back at the top of the QAFL goalkicking table after a stand-out performance in the week leading up to the State game.

At the halfway mark of the QAFL season, Hughes has 42 goals and is four clear of last year’s Ray Hughson Medallist Darren Ewing.

Hughes booted seven goals against Mt Gravatt, then followed up with 7.4 in a sensational performance for Queensland against Tasmania.

Ewing was held goalless by Kurt Niklaus in Round 8 and to two goals by Nick Stockdale in Round 9 at Labrador to relinquish the lead.

Aaron Cornelius produced the performance of the round by the leading forwards alongside Hughes with six goals out of 12 for the Lions Reserves against Aspley.
