AFL adventure for Abu Dhabi students

Thirty-five students from Abu Dhabi were treated to an AFL skills clinic by AFL Gold Coast staff as part of their Summer Abroad Program (SAP).

The 35 students paired up with Helensvale SHS students who showed the Abu Dhabi students the basics of the game.

The students are in Australia for a month, undertaking English classes and enjoying cultural learning excursions over the course of their stay.

The program is delivered by the Department of Education, Training and Employment and Browns English Language School on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Education Council and is designed to help develop the student’s English and cross cultural understanding.

Helensvale SHS’s Simon Foat said it was great to see students from different cultures enjoying a common learning experience.

“It’s a great experience for the students from Abu Dhabi to take home with them,” said Foat.

“For our students, learning to interact and create friendships with international students will only enhance their futures.”
