Community Football Manager – Queensland, Barry Gibson, said the significant investment was part of the AFL’s commitment to enhancing the reputation of Queensland’s state leagues.

“We are delighted for this project to come to life in 2022, as it provides us with a more professional broadcast platform and unique statistical insights that allows us to increase the promotion of the respective competitions, assist with talent ID and also increase the level of support to our coaching staff to further the development of teams and players,” he said.

“As part of our commitment to continue to invest in Queensland state league football, we’ve partnered with three reputable and experienced providers in DoubleTake Sports, Cluch and iSports.

“It’s fitting that with such an injection of talent into the QAFL like we’ve never seen before, we are ramping up how we showcase the competitions.

“The partnerships are beneficial for the league and our clubs, as it allows us to tell our stories better, it’s great for the players because they can self-evaluate, similarly for players that have aspirations to play at a higher level because the people monitoring their progress have access to vision and statistics, which is particularly prevalent in the female space with the SUNS and the Lions who have a history of drafting locally into the AFLW.”

A thrilling one-point victory to Aspley over Coorparoo at the weekend heralded the start of the 2022 Bond University QAFLW with all three new partners helping bring the game to life.

In their first-ever Bond University QAFLW game, Southport made their presence known with a 43-point win over Yeronga. Bond University put in a polished performance against Wilston Grange, while reigning Premiers University of Queensland were too strong for Maroochydore.
