Sell-out crowd expected for Mackay NAB Challenge

Fans keen to see the Brisbane Lions take on St Kilda in next weeks’ NAB Challenge match at Harrup Park are urged to buy tickets ahead of the match, with a sell-out crowd expected.

Harrup Park General Manager Michael Jones said demand for tickets had been strong.

“This is the first AFL NAB Challenge match for the region and there is real buzz and excitement around it.” Jones said.

“We are expecting a capacity crowd and encourage everyone to purchase tickets ahead of the match to ensure entry.”

Gates open at 1:40pm, with the main event kicking off at 3:40pm.

Fans are at the forefront of NAB Challenge and will have the opportunity to participate in kick-to-kick on the ground post-match (weather permitting).

There will be an opportunity for fans to meet their favourite players leading up to the game with open training sessions scheduled for both clubs on Saturday March 5; Lions from 3:00pm to 3.45pm (autographs 3.45 to 4:00pm) and Saints 4:00 to 5:00pm (autographs 5:00pm to 5.15pm).

Club mascots Roy and Angelica will also be out-and-about about leading up to the match and will be at Caneland Shopping Centre from 6pm-8pm on Thursday 3rd March with plenty of kid’s activities and ticket giveaways.

NAB Challenge runs through to Sunday March 13 and will see all 18 teams playing three games – two in the first three weeks and a final match each in the fourth week.

Every match across the opening three weeks will be played at regional or suburban venues around the country, while the fourth and final week will see matches staged at metropolitan AFL venues to maximise team preparations ahead of the Premiership Season.

NAB Challenge will again see nine points awarded for a NAB Supergoal kicked from outside the 50m arc. For every NAB Supergoal kicked, NAB will donate $500 worth of Sherrin footballs to the goal kicker’s junior football club.

The AFL’s NAB Cup Challenge in Mackay is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland as part of the It’s Live! In Queensland events calendar and the Mackay Regional Council through the Invest Mackay Events Attraction Program.
