Flash Footy to debut this Saturday

The AFL Queensland Flash Footy Tournament is just two days away, and the numbers are in.

18 teams across three divisions will take to the field at Bond University this Saturday, with over 200 players registered.

Each team will play at least three games across the day, with a top four twilight finals series for each division to round out the event.

The first game kicks off at 11, with the Division 1 final closing proceedings at 6pm.

Division 1 will feature all six QWAFL clubs, as well as 2015 QWAFA teams Bond University and Jindalee.

Zillmere lead the way in terms of participation this year, with a team registered in each division.

The tournament will also give us the first look at the newly formed Aspley and Maroochydore women’s teams.

Along with the two new teams, there will be a stack of players brand new to the game running around, especially in Division 3.

AFL Queensland QFA and Women’s Football Club Development Manager, Fiona Jones, is ecstatic with the results.

“To have 18 teams and over 200 players for the first ever tournament is incredible,” Jones said.

“It’s really a credit to the teams, new and old, who have worked hard with us to make this possible.

“It’ll be great to see the girls having fun on and off the field on the day, the vibe will certainly be up.

“Going out to training these last couple of weeks, and seeing first hand how pumped up all the girls are for this event makes Saturday even more exciting, it’s going to be a day to remember.”
