Young Scorpions Training Squad Trimmed

After 3 Weeks of training, including an intra squad practice match, the Queensland Young Scorpions Under 16 selectors have announced a reduced training squad as the countdown continues before announcing the final squad of 25 players and 5 emergencies for the NAB AFL National U 16 Championships in Western Sydney from 6- 13 July.

Players not listed in the squad listed below will be contacted by Head Coach John Rankin over the next few days to arrange either a one on one exit interview at Yeronga HQ next Monday afternoon 3 June or alternatively a phone exit interview which will discuss the players 11 Key Performance areas and list some areas for improvement as they continue their development journey through the Queensland Talented Player Pathway.

It should be noted that selectors will continue to monitor Club U 16 and U 18 football over the next month to keep an eye on players and if their form warrants reselection that door will always be open for players to still come back into the squad prior to the Championships. This has occurred in previous years with players forcing their way back into contention by playing some outstanding football with their junior club.

AFL Queensland would like to thank all players not continuing and their parents for their commitment and the travel dedication to and from training over the past 3 weeks and wish all players well in their future football endeavours.
