Vikings to fight for QAFA (B) grand final spot

WYNNUM v SANDGATE

Wynnum were a force to be reckoned with after a 11. 8 (74) – 7. 6 (48) win over Sandgate on Friday night.

The win only confirms the Viking’s consistency throughout the 2014 season, identifying the team as a genuine threat in the battle for the premiership flag.

Sandgate held on to the fight but the game was snatched from their hands by the end of the second quarter.

One of the Hawks’ key players Aaron Widt kept the fight alive, with three goals in the third quarter, leaving the Vikings unable to put any more goals on the board.

With only a goal between the teams going into the final quarter, the Vikings kept in control, bagging a further 3 more goals in order to secure a 26 point success and a place in the 2nd semi final.

Wynnum will now play Woodsmen for the first spot in the grand final.

JIMBOOMBA v YERONGA SOUTH BRISBANE

Jimboomba showed no mercy for Yeronga South Brisbane in a 17. 18 (120) – 3. 4 (22) landslide upset.

The Redbacks led the whole way through while the Devils struggled to take any control even with the advantage of the home ground.

Redbacks full forward Joshua Murray proved to be lethal once again, adding 5 more goals to what is now a 58 goals in 15 games repertoire.

Other key players for the Jimboomba include Ryan Madden and Mathew Harley but all in all it was a well-rounded and put-together defeat for the Redbacks.

Jimboomba will now meet Sandgate in a knockout semifinal on Friday night.
