40 Under 18 girls have been battling it out at Yeronga in hot conditions for a spot in the Qld side to go away and compete in the Under 18 Youth Girls National Championships to be held in Adelaide in May.
Girls flew in from around the state to attend the trials. Due to the change of date for the National Championships moving from September to May, AFL Qld put together the weekend trials to allow all girls the fairest way of selection from the entire state.
Four girls from Darling Downs, three girls from Cairns, one girl from Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Childers, Gold Coast and Northern Rivers, two from Bundaberg, two from Sunshine Coast, and the remainder from Brisbane all attended the camp.
AFL Youth Girls in Queensland is showing some great growth as indicated by the geographical spread of the girls at the trial over the weekend.
The team will be announced on Monday following the two games at the camp as well as many skill and leadership sessions.
