U16 QLD Scorpions 2 from 2 in Sydney

Queensland Yound Scorpions 17.11.113 defeated NT Thunder 5.7.37

Queensland Young Scorpions continued on their winning way in Round 2 of the 2012 NAB AFL Under16 Championships with a 74 point win over Northern Territory Thunder at Blacktown.

The Scorpions were matched early by NT before two goals in the quarter to Haberfield and Moseley opened up an 18 point break at quarter time.

The second quarter kicked off  at a frantic pace with Tomsana, Hammelmann and Agita registering goals. Not to be outdone, Thunder replied with a couple of long goals but Weller, Agita and Tomsana steadied the ship with 3 more goals to open up a 44 point break at the main change.

Stevenson, Hammelmann and Tomsana kicked goals early in the third term and when Tomsana kicked his 4th the margin crept out to almost 10 goals. NT never gave up and kicked 2 for the quarter but the maroons led by 57 points at 3 quarter time.

Defender Liam Dawson was moved forward early in the last quarter and kicked 2 nice goals and took a number of strong contested marks.

Myra Tomsana capped off a great 16th birthday with his fifth goal for the day and Darcy Trask kicked the Young Scorpions 17th goal just before the final siren to see Queensland 17.11.113 defeat NT Thunder 5.7.37.
