2014 QFA (NORTH) Round 6
Noosa vs Mayne
Sat 10 May 2PM
Weyba Rd
Top of the table clash between Noosa and Mayne will see the home side looking to improve on their disappointing showing last week, only just managing to hold off a late fight back from mid-table Caloundra. Mayne’s solid all-round performance against the Roos will give the boys confidence, and they will be looking to take it into the table-defining matchup.
Caboolture vs Kedron
Sat May 10 2PM
Caboolture
A David and Goliath proposition on form. Despite a competitive opening half, cellar-dwellers Caboolture will be out to prove a point following their 85-point drubbing at the hands of mid-tier Aspely. Kedron roll into Oval 1 hot on the back of a comprehensive 155-point victory at home. Kedron’s George Fitzgibbon and James Ferron will be looking to continue their impressive form, as will their stubborn backline.
Nambour & Hinterland vs Maroochydore
Sat May 10 2PM
Nambour
Licking their wounds following last week’s trip to Kedron, the Blues will be looking for a spirited opening to make up their previous 21-pont effort. Consistency across four quarters has been a problem for Maroochydore, and they will be looking to throw their hat into premiership ring by heaping pressure on the top two. Expect both teams to enter the match with points to prove.
Aspley vs Caloundra
Sat May 10 5PM
Graham Rd
Caloundra will be out for vengeance after falling short by 5-points at the final hurdle at home to Noosa last week. The Lions will be out to maintain their ascendency up the ladder following their percentage-boosting win over the Lions, spearheaded by a 66 point second half.
2014 QFA (South)
Burleigh vs Coorparoo
Sat May 10 2PM
Bill Godfrey Oval
Last week Burleigh emerged victors in their 151-95 shootout at home thanks to an 8-goal day for Burleigh’s Terry Knight. A game behind, Cooparoo will be looking to maintain pressure on the home side. Whilst goalless second term didn’t help their charge, the visitors will be hoping to tighten-up their backline, having leaked 143 points against the league leaders Springwood last week.
Coomera vs Robina
Sat May 10 2PM
Coomera Sports Park
Fresh off the back of a bye, Robina will be looking to make a statement this weekend when they travel to cross-town rivals Coomera. Behind leaders Springwood on percentage, Robina will look to claw back the deficit against eighth-placed Coomera. Last week the Magpies pulled one of the bag against Alexandra Hills, and they will be looking to build on their 40-point fourth quarter by halting Robina’s tilt at top position.
Kenmore vs Yeronga
Sat May 10 2PM
Western Districts
Following last week’s comfortable 82-point victory over bottom-placed Kenmore face Coolangatta-tweed, Kenmore face a stiffer test in the travelling Yeronga. Despite falling away in the third quarter to lose 151-95, Yeronga can take confidence into the clash given a six-goal effort from Brad Laycock.
Springwood vs Alexandra Hills
Sat May 10 2PM
Lowe Oval
Alexandra Hills will be licking their wounds when they travel to table-topping Springwood, having leaked six goals to three in the final quarter to lose by 9 points away to positional-rivals Coomera. On the other hand, Springwood will enter the contest resounding favourites on the back of a clinical 143-47 display against mid-table Coorparoo.

QAFA (A) Round 8 Preview
Beenleigh v Ipswich
Saturday May 10, 2pm
Dauth Park
Beenleigh is still searching for its first win of the season, as it prepares to face Ipswich this weekend.
The Eagles sit in sixth and a win against the Buffaloes would be crucial to keep them in finals contention.
Logan v Redcliffe
Saturday May 10, 2pm
Tansey Park
Redcliffe will be hoping to consolidate their second spot on the ladder, with a win over Logan. The Cobras have won two of their past three, going down to ladder leaders, Griffith Moorooka last weekend. Logan hasn’t dropped a game on home soil this season, so the Tigers will be prepared for a tough test at Tansey Park
Griffith Moorooka v Pine Rivers
Saturday May 10, 2pm
Alexander Park
Griffith Moorooka will look to continue their unbeaten streak in the QAFA (A) competition, against Pine Rivers this weekend. Coming off a low scoring win over Logan last weekend, the Roosters will be looking for back-to-back home wins when they face the third placed Swans.
Park Ridge v Carrara
Saturday May 10, 2pm
Park Ridge
In an intriguing match-up, Park Ridge and Carrara will face off at Park Ridge this weekend. While the Saints have one win so far, that came against third-placed Pine Rivers, so the pirates won’t be taking them lightly. Park Ridge will be fresh coming into the match, after a round seven bye.
