THUNDER AWARD FOR EWING

Tuesday 31 August 2010

Robust full-forward Darren Ewing has won the Northern Territory Thunder’s Inpex Best Player Under 23 award for the second consecutive year.

Ewing, who turned 23 during the season, polled 19 votes to be a clear winner from exciting 21-year-old Zephi Skinner (14) and livewire Jake Dignan (13).

Ewing booted 78 goals for the season, including six out of 11 in the Thunder’s losing elimination final side last weekend.

He was a consistent votegetter all season and benefited from playing in all 19 matches, while Skinner missed three games and Dignan five.

Votes were cast by the coaching panel on a 3-2-1 basis throughout the winter.
