SEQ Women’s League Grand Final preview

Yeronga/South Brisbane v Zillmere

Yeronga/Sth Brisbane are looking for back-to-back Premierships in the SEQ Women’s League Grand Final at Coorparoo on Sunday.

Despite a change of coach in 2012 Yeronga have continued their 2011 form, their young group of girls undefeated throughout the home and away season.

Two-time All-Australian Katie Brennan has returned to form after being laid up with injury for most of the season while young guns Caitlin Collins, Emily Bates and Jordan Zanchetta have made the step up from the Yeronga Under 18 Youth Girls team in 2012.

Sunfire player  Kate Lutkins returns from a broken finger to further strengthen the clubs scoring options.

Zillmere have continued with the development of their game under Coach Ross Clayfield to make their first final since they won the Division 2, 2007 Premiership.

The steady improvers over the last couple of years, Zillmere have consolidated their spot in the final with solid performances from U18 All-Australian players Tayla Harris and Allie Anderson and great support from fellow Qld U18 player Kristienne Hudson.

The return from injury of Madi Crowley and Jasmine Boyers is a big boost for the club and is helped with 2012 Northern Territory recruit Sandii Rixon.

This weekend’s game will be a blockbuster with all the pressure on defending Premiers Yeronga/South Brisbane.

The game kicks off at 1pm this Sunday.
