Round 5

Aspley vs Caboolture
Sat 3 May 2pm: Graham Road

Bottom teams Aspley and Caboolture go head to head this weekend. Caboolture are still chasing their first win after they were pummelled by Caloundra last week, losing 152-44. Aspley’s game against Nambour & Hinterland last week saw close play for the first three quarters, until six goals in the fourth quarter led the Hornets to a 116-71 victory.

Caloundra vs Noosa

Sat 3 May 2pm: North St Oval

Caloundra will be confident hosting undefeated team Noosa after their thrashing of Caboolture last week. Ten goals in the final quarter and consistent play from top goal-scorer Trent Saxelby saw the Panthers defeat the Lions 152-44. Noosa will be looking to start strong after they only managed to seal their 82-74 win over Maroochydore in the final quarter.

Kedron vs Nambour & Hinterland

Sat 3 May 2pm: E.K Anderson Oval

It will be a close match for Kedron and Nambour & Hinterland, with both teams looking to rectify round 4 losses. Kedron lost 116-76 to Mayne last weekend, where very slow third and fourth quarters for Kedron saw the Tigers race ahead. Nambour were defeated by Aspley 116-71, after a scoreless fourth quarter for Nambour and six goals for Aspley saw the Hornets take control.

Mayne vs Maroochydore

Sat 3 May 2pm: Mott Street

Maroochydore will come out firing after their first loss last week when they are hosted by top team Mayne. Maroochydore will be looking to lengthen their play after their close lead over Noosa went astray with a slow fourth quarter resulting in a 82-74 loss. They will be looking out for Mayne’s Luke Faulkner, whose seven goals last weekend led his team to a 116-76 win over Kedron.

Round 5

Coomera vs Alexandra Hills

Sat 3 May 1:30pm: Coomera Sports Park

Bottom team Coomera will be looking to put their first points on the board when they host Alexandra Hills this Saturday. Both teams will be hoping to start out strong with slow first quarters last week resulting in respective defeats. The Magpies lost 103-76 to Coomera, while Alexandra Hills were thrashed by top team Robina, losing 164-56.

Burleigh vs Yeronga South Brisbane

Sat 3 May 2pm: Bill Godfrey Oval

Burleigh host Yeronga in what is likely to be a tough match for the Devils. The Bombers annihilated Coolangatta-Tweed last week, with a steady increase in goals over the four quarters leading them to a 190-49 victory. Yeronga will want to kick things off with a bang due to their slow first quarter resulting in a brutal 177-53 defeat to Springwood.

Coorparoo vs Springwood

Sat 3 May: Giffin Park (Oval 1)

Coorparoo goes up against undefeated team Springwood, with both teams coming off the back of round 4 successes. The Kings had a powerful third quarter in their 103-76 defeat of Coomera, while the Pumas flogged Yeronga 177-53, with consistent high scores across all quarters.

Coolangatta-Tweed vs Kenmore

Sun 4 May 2pm: Peak Oval

Coolangatta host Kenmore, who are coming off the back of a bye. The Blues suffered a brutal 190-49 defeat at the hands of Burleigh last week, where a mere seven goals didn’t stand a chance against their 29-goal scoring victors.

Round 7

Sat 3 May 2pm: Limestone Park

Ipswich vs Carrara

Ipswich host Carrara this week, with both teams only having one win under their belt. The Saints’ first victory came last week when, after trailing all match, they came back in the fourth quarter to secure a brutally close 107-106 win over Pine Rivers. Ipswich suffered a 127-97 round 6 loss against Park Ridge.

Sat 3 May 2pm: Alexander Park

Griffith-Moorooka vs Logan

Ladder leaders Griffith-Moorooka host Logan in what is likely to be a tough match for the Cobras. Logan, who sit on an even three wins and three losses, beat Beenleigh 86-47 last week, but will find strong competition in the undefeated Roosters who secured a convincing 109-43 win over UQ.

Sat 3 May 2pm: Rob Akers Reserve

Pine Rivers vs Beenleigh

Pine Rivers will be looking to rectify their devastating 107-106 loss to Carrara when they take on Beenleigh this week. The Swans, who were leading up until the fourth quarter when the Saints snatched a one-point victory, won’t find it hard to defeat bottom team Beenleigh, who continued their 2014 losing streak with an 86-47 loss to Logan last week.

Redcliffe vs University of Queensland

UQ goes up against Redcliffe, who had a bye last week. The Red Lions, who sit third on the ladder, suffered their first loss at the hands of Griffith-Moorooka in round 6.

Fri 2 May 7:30pm: Bribie Island

Bribie Island vs Glasshouse Hinterland

Bottom teams Bribie Island and Glasshouse Hinterland clash this weekend. Glasshouse come off the back of a bye and are still yet to win a game. Bribie scored a low six goals last week which resulted in their 102-42 defeat by Maroochydore.

Sat 3 May 2pm: Gympie

Gympie vs Maroochydore

Gympie will be looking to rectify their round 4 performance when they host Maroochydore. The Cats, who were defeated 100-34 by top team Pomona last week, should watch out for the Roos’ top round 4 goal scorer, Matthew Stanley, who led his team to a 102-42 victory over Bribie.

Fri 2 May 7:30pm: Redbank Plains Recreational Reserve

Collingwood Park vs Yeronga South Brisbane

Second team Collingwood Park host Yeronga this weekend. Both teams sit on two wins and one loss after each securing round 3 victories. The Power beat Greater Springfield 85-54, while the Devils were triumphant against Wynnum, winning 75-38.

Fri 2 May 7:30pm: Western Districts Oval

Kenmore vs University of Queensland

Kenmore host bottom team UQ, with the Red Lions searching to put their first points on the board. They suffered a crushing 201-6 defeat at the hands of top team Woodsmen last week, while the Bears lost 77-54 to Jimboomba.

Fri 2 May 7:30pm: Alexander Park

Woodsmen vs Kedron

Ladder leaders Woodsmen go up against Kedron, who had a bye last week. Kedron are looking for their first win of the season, but are unlikely to find it against Woodsmen, who had a tremendous 201-6 victory over UQ in round 3. Kedron should watch out for David Walter, who kicked 12 goals for Woodsmen in last week’s match.

Fri 2 May 7:30pm: Lemke Rd

Sandgate vs Greater Springfield

Sandgate and Greater Springfield go head to head this weekend. The Hawks consistently led throughout their round 4 game, securing a 77-63 victory over Zillmere. The Storm lost 85-54 to Collingwood Park.

Fri 2 May 7:30pm: Kianawah Road

Wynnum vs Jimboomba

Wynnum host Jimboomba, with the Vikings looking for their first win since round 1. Wynnum lost 75-38 to Yeronga last weekend, while the Redbacks secured their first win of the year, beating Kenmore 77-54.

Ballina vs Robina

Fri 2 May 7:30pm: Fripp Oval

Ballina host Robina this weekend in what could be a difficult match for the Roos. Coming off the back of a whopping 116-15 defeat by Bond University last week, Robina will need to muster their confidence in taking on Ballina, who beat Byron 80-50 in round 3.

Byron Magpies vs Tweed Coast
Sat 3 May 2pm: Schultz Oval

Bottom team Byron will be hoping for their first win when they take on Tweed Coast. However, it will be a tough match for the Magpies, who lost 80-50 to Ballina last week, while second team Tweed secured a convincing 93-53 victory over Lismore.

Sun 4 May 1pm: Bond University
Bond University vs Lismore

Undefeated top team Bond are likely to intimidate their round 4 competitors, Lismore, this week. Bond smashed Robina 116-15 last weekend, while Lismore were defeated 93-53 by Tweed Coast in the most recent of their consistently low-scoring games.
