Queenslander to umpire AFL finals

Queensland AFL boundary umpire, Aaron Deckys, was last night announced as one of the 16 boundary umpires that will officiate in this year’s finals series.

Aaron will kick off his finals duties with Friday night’s Qualifying Final clash between premiership favourites Hawthorn and Sydney.

Queensland AFL Umpires Manager, Cameron Nash said the appointment was well deserved.

“This is a great reward for Aaron who is one of the most professional umpires within the AFL/NEAFL umpires team,” said Nash.

“His consistency in performance, training ethic, recovery and preparation is first class.

“This on top of living on the Sunshine Coast and balancing his work, family and travel is just an amazing effort.”

This will be the fourth time that Deckys has officiated in an AFL final.

Qualifying Final 1: Hawthorn v Sydney Swans can be seen on 7mate from 7:30pm this Friday night
