Queenslander Spurr To Make AFL Debut

Lee Spurr will make his AFL debut for the Fremantle Dockers at Metricon stadium tomorrow

Queenslander Lee Spurr will make his AFL debut for Fremantle Docker in their match against the Gold Coast SUNS at Metricon Stadium tomorrow.

A product of the Queensland Talent Program, Spurr was a member of the State U16 and U18 Scorpions teams.

The utility was a Redland junior before cutting his teeth with QAFL (now NEAFL) sides Redland, then Morningside before moving to South Australia where he played in three SANFL premierships in five seasons for Central Districts.

Spurr was picked up by the Dockers in last year’s draft as a mature age rookie, impressing the club with his courage, versatility and strong overhead play.

The 24-year-old will replace forward Jack Anthony, who has been dropped after a poor showing against Carlton last week.

The Gold Coast SUNS Vs Fremantle Dockers clash kicks off at 4:40pm tomorrow. Tickets available from www.ticketmaster.com.au
