QLD Scorpions ready for Calder Cannons

The team for tomorrow’s Queensland Scorpions to take on the Calder Cannons has been named.

The Queensland Scorpions kick off their 2013 season tomorrow, against TAC Cup side Calder Cannons.

Four of the 22 players named for the match are returning Scorpions, with Isaac Conway, Sam Gribble, Jono Freeman and Aden Rutledge all bottom-agers in 2012.

Plenty of the side have had success at state level, having been part of the 2011 Under-16 national champion side.

As well as plenty of experienced players, there are a number of players pulling on the Queensland jumper for the first time.

Luke Rogerson, Jack Taylor, Steven Coutts and Archie Smith will all make their debut for Queensland tomorrow, in what is looking to be a tightly contested match.

Lachie Weller, younger brother of Gold Coast SUNS player, Maverick, heads a contingent of Level 1 AIS/AFL players picked for the game against the Cannons, including Liam Dawson and Matthew Hammelman.

The game kicks off at 10:30am tomorrow morning, at Leyshon Park Yeronga.
