QLD Scorpions Down Bendigo in Thriller

Goal after siren gives Scorpions 3 point win

The Queensland Scorpions Under 18 team have scored a 3 point win over the Bendigo Pioneers in Melbourne.

The Scorpions led early kicking into a slight breeze, getting on top in the 1st and 2nd quarter with good work in the ruck and around stoppages.

Bourke and Wardle were dangerous up forward and Jonson and Jones were good in defence.

The 3rd quarter was all about Bendigo, with Boston keeping the Queensland side in front with a goal before the final break.

The Scorpions got on top early in the last quarter with goals to Brown and Bourke but Bendigo refused to lay down, kicking three goals straight to hit the front for the first time, deep in time on.

But the Scorpions prevailed in a nail-biting finish thanks to small forward Daniel Brown who held his nerve to kick the winning goal after the siren.

Final score: Queensland Scorpions 11.7.73 to Bendigo Pioneers 10.10.70
