Logan Cobras ace Jade Pregeli will be looking to complete a premieship/medal double in Saturday’s Women’s League grand final against Western Magpies at Coorparoo.

This comes after Pregeli scored a thrilling one-vote win in
the League B&F medal vote-count yesterday and the Magpies completing a stunning exit of undefeated minor premiers Morningside from the premiership race.

The Magpies beat Morningside 7-5-47 to 7.5.35 to set up a crack at a revenge victory over the Logan side which towelled them up in last year’s grand final.

Kate Lutkins, Shaye Easton and Peta Luadaka were the pick of the winning Magpies side in what was a close throughout yesterday, while captain Juanita Mottram, Emma Zielke and Georgia Black were best for the Panthers.

In the medal count, Pregelj polled 20 votes to beat clubmate Janille Pasfield by one, with Morningside’s Mottram in third place on 16 votes.

Morningside coach Zander Collette was named Coach of the Year despite his team’s stunning straight-sets finals exit from the premiership after they’d completed the home-and-away season undefeated.

Morningside’s Sheria Sayle topped the goal-kicking list with 53, while Yolanda Jones of Zillmere won the League’s Rising Star Award.

The Women’s League grand final will be played at Coorparoo at 11.30am on Saturday.

The Cobras, who had beaten Morningside in an overtime major semi-final to qualify for their fifth consecutive grand final, will start flag favourites after beating the Magpies by five points, 46 points and 17 points in their three meetings during the home-and-away season.
