ONE RULE CHANGE FOR CLUB AID TROPHY

Tuesday 22 February 2011

There will be just the one rule change for Queensland-based NEAFL teams when they contest the Club Aid Trophy pre-season competition next month.

While the AFL has trialled a number of different rules during their NAB Cup lightning premiership, it will be a lot more simple for local clubs.

The rule change that will be introduced is regarding the advantage rule, where the teammate of a player winning a free kick will make the decision as to whether to play-on or stop, rather than the umpire.

The rule will be commonplace in both Leagues’ premiership seasons.

The Club Aid Trophy begins for the NEAFL sides on Saturday 12 March, with 13 matches being played at Fankhauser Reserve and Victoria Point.
