Eight Mile Plains boy Nicholas Greer will realise his ultimate childhood dream when he plays on the hallowed MCG turf during the 2011 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
Nicholas, a participant at the Mt Gravatt Vultures NAB AFL Auskick Centre, was recently selected as the Round 2 nominee for the NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year Award.
He was selected ahead of thousands of other entries based on his outstanding Auskick spirit. This year, 22 Auskickers who best reflect teamwork, enthusiasm, commitment and passion will travel to Melbourne to march in the 2011 Toyota AFL Grand Final Parade, play on the MCG at halftime and present medals to the 2011 premiership players.
In addition to the Grand Final experience of a lifetime, Nicholas is now in the running to win $5000 in a NAB Smart Junior Saver account plus Geelong’s Joel Selwood as their personal footy mentor in 2012.
Mt Gravatt Vultures Auskick Centre Coordinator, Justin Ryan, said the competition was a huge hit amongst the kids last year and they are all eager to be nominated in 2011.
“The way NAB has created this competition is outstanding. The Award looks beyond the best player on the ground; it is essential young children understand the importance of being a good teammate and looking out for others,” Justin said.
Every week, 168,000 children and their parents head to one of 2,800 Auskick centres across the country to participate in NAB AFL Auskick. NAB is dedicated to giving back to the community through programs such as Auskick, which offers families an accessible and affordable community activity in a safe and friendly environment.
In 2011, NAB celebrates six years with NAB AFL Auskick and will benefit participants and centres around the country with three great competitions; NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year, NAB AFL Auskick Volunteer of the Year and NAB Footy Frenzy.
