Morningside’s Pink Panthers members have added an extra element in 2013.
Morningside’s ‘Pink Panthers” are upping the ante this season, following a membership launch last month.
As well as their annual Pink Panther ladies luncheon, to be held on July 7 at the club, Morningside introduced a Hot Pink Chick and Pink Panther Cub memberships this season, supported by the Hawthorne Garage.
As part of their memberships, the Hot Pink Chicks received a swag of pink Morningside merchandise to show their support.
The Pink Panthers lunch, in its ninth year, has an extra personal element this season, with four of the regular attendees diagnosed with breast cancer in recent years.
Morningside junior AFC secretary, Deb Macqueen, said the lunch would be a great opportunity to celebrate all the women associated with the Panthers club.
“This function started as a thank you for all that these women do for our community and club and it has turned into so much more,” she said.
“With a number of our friends being diagnosed, having gone through treatment and being back here to celebrate the day, it will be extra special.”
As part of the day, to raise money for breast cancer research, the Morningside Panthers will don pink jumpers against Southport at Esplen Oval.
