Leagues and clubs around Queensland are being urged to submit nominations for the AFL Merit award, which has been presented on an annual basis since 1955.
The award, which has been presented to more than one Queenslander in recent years, is for people who have contributed outstanding service to Australian Football in their local region.
Nominations can be for services to junior or senior football, and 10 years is the minimum period of service for which a nomination will receive consideration.
“We have a substantial number of outstanding volunteers who have devoted their lives to their local footy club or association for long periods of time, and these people deserve to be recognized,” said AFLQ Coaching and Volunteers Manager Richie Lyons.
AFL Merit Award winners receive a merit certificate personally signed by the AFL Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of the AFL Commission, and have their name added to the honour board of less than 600 Merit Award winners dating back to 1931.
Please email rlyons@aflq-new.fspdev.com for a copy of the electronic nomination format, which he also has to sign.
Nominations need to be submitted in this electronic format back to rlyons@aflq-new.fspdev.com by the close of business on Friday 25 June 2010.
