Lions Cup Roars Into Action

The Brisbane Lions Cup for season boys kicks off on Tuesday March 6

March will see local state high schools take part in the annual Brisbane Lions Cup for senior secondary boys.

Starting next Tuesday at Yeronga, schools will play an initial qualifying day in a round-robin style format. Results will determine who progresses to either the Division Two or Three carnival days, to be played in May.

Open to all state high schools in the South East, the Lions Cup is the only opportunity for these senior secondary boys to play a full version (18-a-side) of the game in an interschool format.

2011 Division 3 defending champions, Corinda State High School, will be amongst the field of schools competing. Corinda defeated Centenary State High School last year in one of the most thrilling school grand finals seen in a long time, defeating the boys from Centenary by the slightest of margins.

No doubt Centenary will be seeking to go a step further in 2012, whilst newcomers Wynnum State High and Kenmore State High will also be keen to make a mark.
