Important Fixtures Update for Weekend 31 Jul – 2 Aug 2020

AFL QUEENSLAND COVID-19 UPDATE

Following the recent issue relating to the positive COVID-19 cases within the Logan region, AFL Queensland has reviewed the situation and reached a decision on fixtures and NAB AFL Auskick scheduled for this weekend.

Although no public health order has been given to cease community football at this time, a number of students from the identified schools in question are players at Park Ridge, Jimboomba, Rochedale, Springwood and Calamvale. Greater Springfield does not have players at the schools affected, however in consultation with AFLQ made the decision to not participate in fixtures this weekend given their proximity to the areas in question.

As such, a proactive decision has been made by these junior clubs, in conjunction with AFL Queensland that these clubs will not be participating in fixtures or Auskick this weekend.

Essentially any fixture where these clubs were scheduled to play this coming weekend (home or away), will not go ahead. See below the full list of fixtures that will be postponed. AFL Queensland will be working closely with the clubs to determine the next course of action for future fixtures.

We will continue to update information as it evolves and becomes available to us. We would also like to thank and acknowledge the clubs for their swift response and precautions taken at this difficult time.

The decision has been made for Senior Fixtures to continue at this time, until we receive any advice to the contrary from Queensland Health.

We request all players from teams located in any affected regions to ensure they are strictly adhering to all required protocols.

Anyone who has been in the venues outlined in the Public Health order below must not attend the game and must follow directives from Queensland Health. We ask people to be responsible around their decision to attend games, and if they choose to attend they must respect all protocols and social distancing measures, particularly in licensed areas and grandstands.

All attendees at every game across Queensland must register their attendance at venues as a mandatory requirement and continue to adhere to protocols at all times.

To ensure we play our part in helping curb any further outbreaks, AFL Queensland urges everyone to follow any directives from Queensland health. This includes the self-quarantine of any individuals who were present at the below locations at the relevant times and dates. You are also asked to contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) immediately.

Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19, even if they are mild, must get tested. A number of Fever Clinic times have been extended:

Logan Hospital Fever Clinic – 8am-9pm – Wednesday 29 July-Thursday 30 July.
QEII Hospital Fever Clinic – 8am – 9pm – Wednesday 29 July-Friday 31 July.
Parklands Fever Clinic (school community testing) – Closes 7pm tonight. Opens 9am tomorrow.
Orion Springfield Central Shopping Centre western car park (pop up clinic) – 9am-4pm – Thursday 30 July-Sunday 2 August.
