Gold Coast hosts 2019 NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships – Round 2

The Gold Coast will play host to Round Two of the 2019 NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships with the action set to kick off at 11:00am AEST as Queensland takes on Vic Country at Metricon Stadium.
 
Six teams will be competing in Round Two: Central Allies, Eastern Allies, Queensland, Vic Country, Vic Metro and Western Australia.

From Round One, South Australia and the Northern Territory have combined to become the Central Allies while NSW/ACT and Tasmania become the Eastern Allies.

Matches will be played at Metricon Stadium on Monday, July 8, Southport Oval on Wednesday, July 10 and at Bond University on Friday, July 12.

AFL Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said Round Two presents the country’s young female talent with the chance to display their skills to recruiters. 

“I’m looking forward to seeing some of the country’s best female footballers take to the field this week on the Gold Coast, where over 200 young women will take part in Round Two of the 2019 NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships,” said Mrs Livingstone.

“It is exciting to see more girls across the country joining the game and the NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships provides these young women with a pathway to realise their dream and play football from grassroots through to the elite level.

“2020 will present the country’s young female talent with more opportunities than ever before as four new teams join the AFLW competition.”
