The stage is set for the AFL Queensland Female Pre-Season Carnival this Saturday, March 21.
The carnival, to be held at Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex, will feature 28 teams from across South East Queensland, with clubs participating from the QWAFL, QWAFA, U17, U15 and U13 competitions.
AFL Queensland Female Programs Coordinator, Breeanna Brock said the event will be a great hit-out for players ahead of season 2015.
“A lot the teams begin training in November and it’s a perfect chance for players to get some game time before the season starts,” she said.
It also provides a really unique opportunity for clubs and players to get game time against opposition they normally wouldn’t play against.
“Clubs are coming from all over the place and it will be good for the players to test their skills against new teams, learn things for the season and hopefully have a lot of fun while they’re doing it,” she said.
The clubs themselves can use the occasion to have a practice run before the season starts.
“It helps the clubs get more organised before the start of the season, getting players registered, getting people to training, because it shows the girls there is something to compete for as their training progresses,” she said.
The pre-season carnival will become a yearly fixture, with as many clubs participating as possible.
