Darling Downs U14 2nd semi-final preview

Darling Downs Juniors U14 2nd Semi Preview – Coolaroo Roos v Highfields Lions

The Under 14 2nd Semi Final will showcase the best talent our region has in this age group when the Coolaroo Roos face off against the Highfields Lions.

A large contingent of these two sides will play alongside each other the following day when the DD Crows face off against Aspley.  It is because of this exact reason this match will be a thriller to watch.  Many of the players know their opposition’s strengths and weaknesses through training and playing together.

Highfields dealt Coolaroo one of their first losses in around 3 years with their Round 13 victory, making up for a big loss in Round 4.  A fast start was the key here with Sam Stahlhut being in fine touch, along with the two Cherry boys.

Coolaroo came back hard in that match, keeping the Lions to just 2 behinds for the whole second half in some terrible weather conditions.

Will Grundon is another player for the Lions who has taken his game to an exceptional next level this year and provides pace, size and skill right across the ground.  With the weather possibly sketchy he will be one player who will provide a key for the Lions.

Coolaroo on the other hand have many of the big names of DD football.  Rissman (times two), Shelton, Ross, Copland & Sprason.  They know how to play and more importantly how to win finals and will be keen to continue to add to their already long footballing CV’s.

This match will be more up and down than a two goat-cart, however whichever side gets on top early will likely hold sway throughout the match.  Expect some big grabs and some boys who like to take the game on to shine.
