Bond University QAFLW and QAFL Grand Final Venues Announced

AFL Queensland are proud to announce the Grand Final Venues for the Bond University QAFLW and QAFL competitions.

Leyshon Park, Yeronga will host the 2022 Bond University QAFLW Grand Final on Sunday August 7 and the 2022 QAFL Grand Finals will be held at Giffin Park, Coorparoo on Saturday 17 September.

Punters will not have to wait long for the big dance, with the Bond University QAFLW finals series commencing this weekend and just 5 weeks remaining in the QAFL home and away season,

Following an outstanding Bond University QAFLW Grand Final event in 2021, Leyshon Park has again been selected as the venue for the 2022 showcase event.

State Leagues Competition Manager Mitchell Simpson, said Leyshon Park was renowned in footy circles as a fantastic Grand Final venue.

“Playing host to the QAFL Grand Final in 2020, the QAFLW Grand Final in 2021 and more recently an outstanding 2022 QAFLW Pride Round event, Leyshon Park is renowned for hosting some of AFL Queensland’s premier community football events,” he said.

“The competition this season has been extremely competitive, and I know the football community is eager to see how the finals series plays out and who will be vying for the 2022 flag in August.”

After identifying several suitable venues on both the Gold Coast and Brisbane to host this year’s QAFL Grand Final, the ultimate decision came down to venue availability. Giffin Park, Coorparoo fitted the brief best and was selected to host the 2022 QAFL Grand Final.

Giffin Park has recently undergone a major facelift in 2022, with a fully resurfaced playing field, installation of a new state of the art electronic scoreboard, as well as erecting brand new coaching boxes.

“Aside from the major upgrades to the venue this season, Coorparoo offers a great venue for the Grand Final with multiple changeroom configurations, warm up oval, as well as great parking, public transport access and easy access from both the Gold and Sunshine coasts, which is important as we could have grand finalists from any of the three regions,” Simpson said.

“We’re confident that Coorparoo will not only deliver an outstanding match day experience for players and officials, but will provide an excellent Grand Final experience for club supporters and the greater football community.”

“In what has been one of the highest quality QAFL seasons in recent years, we’re anticipating a blockbuster QAFL finals series and the 2022 QAFL Grand Final is shaping as one for the ages”
