The AFLQ Level Two Coaching Course will be held this weekend at Metricon Stadium.
All of the speakers for the weekend have been announced, with 1245 AFL games and five premierships between them.
Speakers include 2001 Norm Smith Medallist and SUNS development coach, Shaun Hart, Brisbane Lions development coach, Gary O’Donnell.
A two-day course, the Level Two accreditation is designed for senior, representative, development and youth coaches with an aptitude and genuine interest in improving their coaching skills.
The workshops across the weekend will cover a variety of subjects, from building a game plan to establishing positive relationships between coaches and umpires.
AFL Queensland Coach and Volunteer Manager Jack Barry acknowledged the importance of coach education.
“This is a great opportunity to gain a greater knowledge of AFL,” said Barry.
“The game is constantly evolving and we need our new and present coaches to keep up with latest trends.
“It’s important that year-in, year-out you are coming up with fresh messages for your playing list and club”.
“The coaching industry has grown immensely at the elite level and we are to a certain extent a mirror image of that in NEAFL and community football competitions including. QAFL, QFA, QAFA and all AFL Queensland Country Leagues.
“Just as there is a focus on emerging playing talent we are looking to up the ante for talented coaches and provide opportunities for them through our talent programs such as the NEAFL and Senior and Youth football and AFL Academies”.
To be eligible to gain your level 2 accreditation you must have held a Level 1 coaching certificate for more than 2 years and have been actively involved in coaching.
Current level 2 Coaches are also encouraged to attend as an update.
Cost of the Course is $275 for level 1 coaches and $110 for level 2 coaches wishing to update their skills. Prices are GST inclusive.
Coaches updating are required to attend one full day.
