AFL Queensland is pleased to announce that 25 matches across the 2018 QAFL season, in addition to all six finals matches, will be streamed live and free.
At least one QAFL game will be streamed with play-by-play commentary per week on aflq-new.fspdev.com throughout the season, with an additional six games to be broadcast throughout the season to showcase the biggest matches of the year.
The coverage will commence in Round 1 with two live games, including the traditional ANZAC Eve clash between Sandgate and Wilston Grange at Lemke Road.
The announcement represents the first time AFL Queensland has committed to providing unmitigated coverage of the QAFL to the public and is a great step forward for the promotion and visibility of the league.
QAFL Competition and Club Development Manager, Christopher Davis, said that live streaming games each week will bring the competition to the forefront in showcasing local football.
“Live streaming allows for people around the country to see the great standard of players and facilities in our competition,” he said.
“It’s more fun for the players, creates better exposure for the competition and opens up new sponsorship opportunities for the clubs.”
Commentators are now being sought by AFL Queensland for the live stream coverage in 2018 on a voluntary basis.
AFL Queensland is keen to provide a pathway for aspiring sports callers in the industry. The desired commentators will have sound interest and knowledge of the QAFL and a willingness to help shape the identity of the league.
Interested applicants and potential match-callers are encouraged to contact christopher.davis@afl.com.au for more information.
Expressions of interest are due by March 10.
