AFL Mackay is Back!

The 2020 Allied Pickford’s AFL Mackay season will kick off on Saturday July 11 in a shortened 10 match season, where all teams will be looking to get vital early season wins.

Reigning Premiers North Mackay Saints, lead again by Craig Jenkins, will be looking  to complete another perfect season, after completing 2019 as undefeated Premiers.  However, they won’t have it all their own way with last year’s runners up, Eastern Swans, eager to go one better in 2020 after an impressive off-season. The Grand Final rematch will take place in Round 4 at the Saint’s home, Zeolla Park.

Brad Best will continue as Coach for the Mackay City Hawks, while over at the Magpie nest, Declan Arnow will take the reigns for the 2020 season.

The  AFL Mackay Seniors Women’s MacDonald’s Mackay Cup will also commence on July 11, with each team playing each other twice in home and away format.

Last year’s runners up, Mackay City Hawks,  will have try to go one better without young gun, Lily Tarlington, who has relocated to the Gold Coast to pursue her dream of reaching the AFLW competition.

2019 Premiers, Bakers Creek Tigers, are expected to be strong again after strong retaining Coach Ian Rix and the majority of last year’s squad.
