The fixtures for the AFL Darling Downs Allied Senior Men’s and Women’s seasons have been announced with Round One to kick off on April 23rd.
The Toowoomba women’s team 2021 triumph over Goondiwindi totalled seven consecutive titles for the Tigers, who’ll begin their title defence with a Grand Final rematch.
It will be an action-packed day at Rockville Park, with the Hawks and Tigers also opening their campaigns in the Allied Senior Men’s league.
Dalby will also play host to a double header; with the Swans men’s and women’s teams meeting South Burnett.
To mark ANZAC Round, other Round One match ups include South Toowoomba and University at Southern Cross Oval (women’s) with Warwick hosting University and South Toowoomba taking on Coolaroo at home in the men’s.
Both competitions will celebrate Sir Doug Nichols Round on May 21st and 28th (Rounds Five and Six) and will join in the state-wide celebrations for Pride Round on July 16th.
2021 Allied Senior Men’s Premiers, the South Toowoomba Bombers, have plenty to play for in 2022 as they go for their third consecutive title in their 50th year.
New AFL Darling Downs Competition Manager, Jana Anderson, said the fixture released today gave the Darling Downs football community a number of reasons to get excited for the season.
“We are anticipating another competitive and evenly spread competition across both the Allied Senior Men’s and Women’s competition,” she said.
“We have some exciting, themed rounds to celebrate throughout the year.
“Coming off some high-quality football in 2021, in particular a very close finals campaign, both South Toowoomba (men’s) and Toowoomba (women’s) will have a number of teams looking to end their Premiership streaks.”
The finals series will begin on August 20th, to culminate in Grand Final day on Saturday September 3rd.
