Ryan Davey capped off a stellar individual season, winning his first Danny Newman medal as Labrador’s best and fairest.
Davey finished on 93 votes , 15 votes ahead of Simon Seddon on 78, with veteran Todd Featherstone third on 74.
The win completes an incredible trifecta for the Tiger captain, who also won the Grogan Medal and Syd Guildford Trophy, despite missing seven matches through the season.
Davey polled top votes in five of his 11 matches for the year, as well as picking up votes in three other games, giving him a handy buffer, despite his absence.
The 28 year-old said it was a significant honour to be counted among the list of Tigers’ best and fairest winners.
“It means a lot to be recognised by the coaches and I’m really humbled by the award,” he said.
“I knew it was going to be a close count as we had so many great contributors this year, so there were a number of other players who could have won it.”
While Davey has been an individual standout for the Tigers this season, he said the most exciting part was the team success the QAFL grand finalists had.
“The change this season has been unbelievable and the feeling around the club is so different to this time a year ago,” he said.
“Everyone has been really positive and I’m really excited to see if we can go one step further next season.
Key defenders, Tom Daniel and Kurt NIklaus were equal fourth, after a season anchoring the Tigers’ defence.
Niklaus took out the Golden Fist Award for his tireless defensive efforts, while Blake Bantoft won the Most Improved.
Sam Walker’s late season form surge earned him Finals Player of the Year, with wingman Adam Baird named the club’s Most Determined.
Team manager, Steve James, was named club person of the year, rewarding the commitment he has shown to the Tigers since he joined the club in 2009.
Tigers midfielder, Todd Featherstone, was one of five people awarded Life Membership at the club, along Geoff Yensch, Luke Black, Shane Hogan and David Loft.
All five have been involved with the Tigers for over a decade and were duly recognised with the prestigious honour.
