Vale Lindsay Jacob

AFL Queensland Hall of Fame member Lindsay Jacob has passed away at the age of 67.

An experienced journeyman before making his mark on Queensland football, Jacob represented the Hume League (1964-66), Ovens & Murray League (1967-68) and played two games for North Melbourne.

A tough and speedy rover who was an outstanding mark for his size, Jacob joined Kedron as captain-coach in 1970-74 in what was considered a bold move for that era.

He spent a year at Ulverstone in Tasmania before returning to captain the Redlegs again in 1976-77. He had another stint at the club in 1980-81 after a short spell at Sherwood.

Jacob played 10 games for Queensland and captained the Maroons in 1970 under Dick Verdo, winning The Courier-Mail and Leach Motors Media Awards.

He is survived by his daughter Carly and will be honoured at a memorial service to be held this Friday at 1pm at the Springvale Memorial Cemetery in Melbourne.
