Queensland are chasing their fourth straight win over the Victorian Amateur Under 21s in the curtain-raiser at Fankhauser Reserve at 11am tomorrow and have named a power-packed combination.

Alastair Nash, who went agonisingly close to senior selection against Tasmania, was named co-captain alongside Redland tyro Matt Thomson.

The team includes a number of other players who would not have been out of place in the senior outfit.

Dashing defender Nick Stockdale and Bradley Pailipuaminni have been in top form in the QAFL, while 202cm ruckman Dean Putt will give the VAFA plenty to think about.

Gold Coast FC’s Matt Fowler was also an original member of the open State squad.

The strength of the Under 21s is reflected in the emergencies, with Reece Toye polling Syd Guildford Trophy votes last week and Aspley teammate Sean Tighe also having been prominent all season.

The third aspect of ‘representative weekend’ sees the Stockmen playing against AFL Cairns at Coorparoo tomorrow in what is effectively a selection trial for the State Country team.
