Toye to join the Hornets 200+ club

22 years of service to the Aspley Hornets Football Club will be made extra special for Reece Toye this weekend when he runs onto the park in his 200th senior game.

Toye is just the fifth player in the club’s 58 years of history to join the elite milestone and will be awarded entry into the Hornets Football Life Members.

He join’s Keith Hill, Michael Walters, Terry and Rodney Weller; four greats who’ve played 200+ for the Hornets.

Toye is one of Aspley’s favourite sons – coming through the junior ranks to become a champion senior player and leader and was instrumental in the Hornets 2014 NEAFL premiership.

Football Operations Manager, Mark Perkins, said the club were thrilled to celebrating Reece’s’ longevity and commitment to club over the past 22 years.

“Reece has been a role model on and off the field and established himself as one of the fan favourites amongst the Hornets Juniors,” he said.

“On behalf of the club, we would like to personally thank him for his years of service and we look forward to seeing him shine this weekend.”

Reece’s father Garry Toye also played 200 senior game with Wiston Grange which puts them both into an even more exclusive club with father and son reaching this milestone.

The Hornets host the Morningside Panthers this Saturday in Round 5. Bounce at 2pm at Graham Road.
