QAFL & QAFLW Grand Final Venues

QAFL

AFL Queensland wishes to advise that due to advice this week that Southport is unavailable to host the 2020 QAFL Grand Final, all three games will now be played at Yeronga regardless of who qualifies. Whilst the initial plan was to play the pinnacle match in the region of the highest ranked qualifying, from the outset clubs were advised that if Southport became unavailable the default venue would be Yeronga.

Bond University QAFLW

Due to the NSW/QLD bubble zone restrictions, Coolangatta’s QAFLW team cannot travel outside the bubble zone, as they have a large portion of players that reside in NSW. As such, their fellow clubs have been supportive in playing matches against Coolangatta at venues inside the zone.

If Coolangatta qualify for the Grand Final, AFL Queensland has advised all clubs the QAFLW & Development League Grand Finals will be played at Bond University on Sunday September 27. In recognising the flexibility afforded to them, Coolangatta fully support the decision to host the Grand Final at Bond University, acknowledging their opponent could be Bond University.

If Coolangatta do not qualify for the QAFLW Grand Final, the match will be played at Yeronga on Sunday September 27, as originally scheduled.

If Coolangatta’s Development League team advance to the Grand Final, but their QAFLW team doesn’t, then AFL Queensland will work with the two teams involved  to find a suitable time and venue to play the match.
