QAFL Grand Final to be held at Metricon Stadium

AFL Queensland is pleased to announce that the 2019 QAFL Grand Final will be held at Metricon Stadium on Saturday 14 September.

AFL Queensland CEO, Dean Warren, said Metricon Stadium provided a great opportunity for our premier men’s competition to play the biggest game of the year at an AFL venue.

“Metricon Stadium will provide an AFL standard experience for our QAFL players, coaches, volunteers and most importantly, the fans,” Mr Warren said.

“We are delighted with and extremely appreciative of the support the Gold Coast Suns and Metricon Stadium have provided to make this opportunity possible.

“Four of our QAFL teams are based on the Gold Coast, so it’s this is fantastic way to give those supporters the chance to see the best state league players compete in their own backyard.

“Metricon Stadium has a well deserved reputation as a family-friendly venue. We are really looking forward to presenting a QAFL Grand Final match day filled with activities for all ages, from kids zones to corporate experiences.

“Our longer term vision is hold both the QAFL and QAFLW Grand Finals at the boutique 10,000 seat Springfield facility. In the meantime, Metricon Stadium is an outstanding venue for our QAFL Grand Final.”

Gold Coast SUNS CEO, Mark Evans said, “Metricon Stadium is a community asset with the ability to host a wide range of events.”

“As a club were really excited to be able to give back to Queensland football and provide a professional experience for their showpiece event.”

Grand Final day will commence with the QAFL Colts Grand Final, followed by QAFL Reserves Grand Final with the QAFL Seniors Grand Final headlining a full day of community football on the big stage.
