CLUBS ALLOW BROTHERS TO UNITE

The spirit of co-operation between Southport and Robina allowed the three Callinan brothers to play together for the first time last Saturday.

Josh Callinan is vice-captain of the Roos and plays alongside brother Toby in the State Association Division One.

They had not had the opportunity to play with 21-year-old Zac Callinan who has been trying to secure a regular place with the strong Southport Sharks line-up.

Zac played five senior games for the Sharks last year but has spent this season in the reserves.

With the Sharks seconds having a bye over the weekend, they gave permission for Zac to play a one-off game with the Roos.

Unfortunately for the blue-and-whites, his presence did not result in a win, with the Roos losing by 11 points to bottom side Aspley at Graham Road.

Josh was among the Roos’ best and the three brothers were grateful to both Robina and Southport for giving them the opportunity to link up on the football field.
