QFA Matches of the Round

SOUTH
Yeronga vs. Bond University
Saturday June 25, 1:00pm, Leyshon Park

With just one game separating these two teams on the ladder, this is as big of an eight-point game as you will see this year.

They are both hot-to-trot at the moment. Yeronga may not have got the four-points last week, but they pushed Springwood all the way in one of the games of the year. Hard to see them both not playing a big role come finals time.

Bond Uni on the other hand were very comfortable winners over Coolangatta last week.

The only issue to come from the game was their inaccuracy in front of the sticks. 15.20 isn’t going to win you games against the top sides.

This will be quick. Both have complete faith in their youth to open the game up, take it on, and put a winning score on the board.

Domonic Wili in the ruck has been a star. Despite still being eligible for Under 18’s, he has made senior footy his own for the Devils.

Ben Merret is the bloke for the Sharkies that Yeronga need to stop. His seven goals last week takes his 10-game total to 44 this year.

They need to stop the midfield delivery to him, but also can’t let him have a run and jump at the pill.

It’ll be on early.

NORTH
Noosa vs. Caloundra
Saturday June 25, 2:00pm, Weyba Rd

In what seems to be the flavour of the week, these two teams are also separated by jus the one game.

Caloundra are coming off, arguably, their best win yet. Last Saturday, they knocked off Maroochydore by a couple of goals, ensuring go equal points as the ladder leaders.

Rudolph was the man last week, and I’m highlighting him again.

He kicks big goals when his team needs them, so look for him to be up and about early.

Noosa on the other hand had a comfortable win over Moreton Bay, thanks to nine goals between Westell and Faure.

Joel Lambourn started the year like a house on fire, so needs to reignite that form.  He is a damaging player, and a barometer to the team.

If Noosa get up here, and Maroochydore don’t win, we have a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard. What more could you as for?
