Club Coaching Coordinator Course announced

AFL Queensland will host a club coaching coordinator course on Saturday, February 20.

The course runs from 8:30am to 4:00pm at AFLQ HQ in Yeronga, and includes teaching technique sessions conducted by three current Brisbane Lions Assistant Coaches.

Shane Woewodin will present on handballing, Mitch Hahn tackling, and Gary O’Donnell kicking.

A club coaching coordinator’s role is to be a resource.

They act as a mentor to all coaches within the four walls of their club, helping implement the club philosophy to all levels of football.

They are responsible for areas such as strategic plans, areas of focus and development, and skill plans for the entire club.

AFL Queensland Coaching and Volunteer Education Manager Steve Wildschut stressed the importance of having someone in the role.

“We think that the club coaching coordinator is one of the most important roles in the footy club,” he said.

“They are the library for coaches to turn to, so that they are up to date with all the latest information and techniques. It’s vitally important that the club has someone in the position, and that they get along to the course.”

The full course is nationally accredited, with the cost being $187.
