Aspley vs Maroochydore
2pm Sat 8 Aug – Graham Road

This will be another tough week for the Hornets, coming up against the Roos who are heading in to finals in an absolute whirlwind. Aspley last week, took on favourites Maroochydore, and were unable to walk away victorious. The Roos have continued to wow their opposition, last week securing a convincing win over Noosa, moving them into an individual second place on the ladder. If the last few weeks are anything to go by, the Roos are positioning themselves nicely heading in to the final weeks of play.

Nambour & Hinterland vs Mayne
2pm Sat 8 Aug – Jubilee Drive

Nambour & Hinterland have a big match ahead of them this weekend coming up against Mayne, who have continued to lead the pack all season. Nambour & Hinterland are yet to register a win for the season so will be looking to do so before the season comes to an end. Mayne on the other hand, will be out to keep the ball rolling heading in to finals. The Tigers are being threatened for their top spot with the Roos creeping closer and closer. Each and every win at this late stage is crucial for Mayne if they want to finish sitting pretty at the top. Mayne come into this round having beat the Aspley Hornets convincingly last week so team spirit will be back on track after a surprising loss to Maroochydore a few weeks ago.

Noosa vs Moreton Bay
2pm Sat 8 Aug – Weyba Road

Noosa’s morale will be a little lower than normal this week, coming off the back of a loss to their biggest rivals Maroochydore last weekend. The clash between second and third places was a match to watch and the winner of the game, was at that stage impossible to guess. A disappointing loss for Noosa, but by no means the end of the season for them. In the clash against Moreton Bay, Noosa will be out for redemption. Moreton Bay had a chance last weekend to rest their legs so it will be interesting to see if they can use this to their advantage and take down an arguably vulnerable Noosa.

Caloundra – BYE

Caloundra are sitting in a comfortable fourth place on the ladder after their convincing win over Nambour & Hinterland last weekend. This week’s bye gives them an opportunity to take a well-deserved break heading towards finals.

QFA South – Round 16

Yeronga South Brisbane vs Springwood
6pm Fri 7 Aug – Leyshon Park

To kick off AFL’s Multicultural Round this weekend, the clash between Yeronga South Brisbane and Springwood will take place on Friday night at Yeronga’s homegrounds Leyshon Park. Yeronga will host a World Fiesta event and the match will be covered on the live blog. Yeronga will be out to take down the Pumas on their home turf and this is a feat well within the Devil’s reach. Sitting at second and fourth on the ladder, Yeronga come into the match underdogs. Both teams are coming off the back of convincing wins last weekend so team spirit will be high and both will be looking to give the kids and families watching, something to cheer for. This should be an exciting match.

Coolangatta-Tweed vs Kenmore
2pm Sat 8 Aug – Peak Oval

The Bears had a bit of an eye opener last weekend, beating the Bombers by a close 12-points. This may have been the kick up the butt they needed and no doubt will be taking to the field with fresh determination this round. Coolangatta-Tweed went down last week to Coorparoo so will have their work cut out for them if they hope to take down Kenmore.

Coomera vs Alexandra Hills
2pm Sat 8 Aug – Coomera Sports Park

These two teams are sitting one apart on the ladder at seventh and eighth places. They’ve had a tough season so far, coming up against some strong competition. This weeks clash provides them both a chance to play some good footy and register a win. If you get down to the nitty gritty of it, Coomera go into this one as favourites, sitting one higher on the ladder, and having had the chance last week to pause and regroup with a bye. Alexandra Hills come in after a hard loss to second place Springwood. The win could go either way, it’ll be interesting to see who walks away victorious.

Robina vs Coorparoo
2pm Sat 8 Aug – Scottsdale Drive

Front-runners Coorparoo are yet to be taken down. They have sailed through this season untouched, and it seems unlikely that they will be slowed down any time soon. After another convincing win over Coolangatta-Tweed last weekend, it appear Coorparoo’s momentum just keeps on going. Robina went down to Yeronga South Brisbane last weekend so will be feeling apprehensive coming head to head with such a successful team. If they can keep their cool and keep the score margin narrow, Robina can walk away knowing they’ve done a good job.

Burleigh – BYE

Following last weeks close loss to the Bears, Burleigh have a chance to regroup and cool off this week.
