The countdown is on for the return of the 2023 QFAW Division 1 season.
The season will commence on April 22, with nine teams fighting for the flag. Each team will play 14 matches across the 17-week season.
QFAW Competition Manager, Grace Winch, said she was excited to see what this season would bring.
“This season will see Sandgate elevated into the competition which is an exciting addition to the competition,” she said.
“Sandgate are in a really healthy position at the moment and their elevation is a reward for the investment they’ve made into their women’s program and a great achievement for the club.
“The 2023 season will however see Mt Gravatt, Burleigh and Coolangatta moving out of the Division 1 competition.”
Round Five will feature a Grand Final rematch between reigning premiers, Surfers Paradise and Moreton Bay.
All teams will get a mid-season rest for round 10 on June 24 to accommodate for the annual North Queensland and South Queensland representative clash.
As part of a state-wide Pride Round on July 15, Kedron, Morningside, Sandgate and Broadbeach will all host LGBTQIA+ celebrations.
The final series will begin on August 19 and will come to a head on September 2 where the two best teams will battle it out in the Grand Final.
