2023 QAFL Fixture Release

The highly anticipated fixture for the 2023 QAFL Premiership season has dropped, with Round One commencing on Saturday, April 1.
 
12 clubs will contest the 2023 Flag, with each team playing 18 matches across the 21-week season.
 
Queensland Competitions Manager Mitch Simpson said he was looking forward to another block buster season.
 
“During the off season we’ve seen some huge signings and marquee recruits which is bound to elevate the level of the competition once again” he said.
 
A grand final rematch will headline the opening round with Reigning Premiers, Aspley to host Broadbeach.
 
Six months since the upset of the season, the Cats will be out for revenge after going down to the Hornets 91-46.
 
Round two will see a Good Friday match between Noosa and Wilston Grange at Noosa Oval. 
 
Traditional rivalry games will be played to commemorate ANZAC Day in April.
 
The blockbuster matches will see Surfers Paradise host Labrador, while further north it’ll be the battle of the Sunshine Coast teams, with Maroochydore taking on Noosa.
 
Broadbeach will host Surfers Paradise in round five on Sunday, April 30 over the long weekend.
 
Sir Doug Nicholls Round will be celebrated across two rounds: eight and nine.
 
All teams will get a mid-season rest for round 14 on July 1 to accommodate for the return of interstate representative football, which will see Queensland take on Tasmania.
 
Round 16 will mark Pride Round with all South East Queensland clubs encouraged to join in the LGBTQIA+ celebrations.
 
Mr Simpson said the marquee matches and themed rounds would make for some fantastic footy in 2023.
 
“As the profile of the QAFL continues to rise, we’re anticipating a far greater following and support of the 2023 season and encourage everyone to get down in person to check out the blockbuster matches firsthand this year” he said.
